| Buddy System |
At St Joan of Arc school, we have created and instilled a Buddy System. Each student in 4 year old pre-school along with K -3rd grades is paired with an older buddy in 4th-8th grades. These students go to mass and are seated with their buddy, work on special projects together and celebrate various holidays together.
This program has proven to help the elementary aged children to gain confidence while the older children are taught responsibility. The system gives the younger children a peer to look up to and the older children are there to encourage. With this program instilled along with a no tolerance for bullying, you may see children of all ages exchanging a high five in the hallway or giving a hug of reassurance.
